5/31(金)20時より齋藤研一 さんの鉢を販売いたします。

We will be selling Kenichi Saito's pots from 8pm on Friday 31st May.

Saito Kenichi has a studio in Akiruno, Tokyo. He is an artist who uses clay from his local Akiruno and Tama areas, making use of the texture of the clay and the possibilities that only clay can offer, to think about and explore what he considers to be cool.
I had the opportunity to talk to him about the work, so I would like to introduce it to you.
Saito's concept is to "create Western-style bonsai. "

They aim to create breathable pots that are gentle on plants and roots.

The firing method is the same, but the pursuit of creating pots that are more suitable for plants is underway.

One of the characteristics of Saito's pots is that they are not glazed.

In line with the concept of a breathing pot, the pot grows in tandem with the plant.

The bowls are made with the same concept as tea bowls used in the tea ceremony or the aging of jeans.

This piece does not use glaze and expresses the shades of black.

Each piece has a different expression.

" I wouldn't recommend my pots to people who don't like dirt showing easily or things that stay the same forever.

Moss may grow depending on the environment, but I would rather have people see the moss as a part of it.”

He was talking about this.

It is recommended for those who enjoy the changes in plants and pots.

Saito also started growing plants,

" Since I put it in this pot, the pot absorbs water well within 10 minutes of being submerged in water.

The next time you water it, if the pot isn't cold to the touch, water it.

If it's cold, there's still water in the soil."

Apparently, he waters the plants by feeling the pots.

Since no glaze is used, you may be able to feel the moisture contained in the pot.

The " Raiden" and "BIO" varieties sold by BOTANAIZE require proper water management.

It gradually grows more and more covered in moss.

And the latest pot of the black series released this time is from Obesa's dealer

The customer requested that the piece be able to hold water for another day, so it was fired in a new style.

Compared to Raiden and BIO, the firing temperature and time are different, and since it is harder, water drains more slowly.

To make the rice cake watery, you just need to change the soil inside.

I received a request from an Obesa retailer for a pot that matches their homemade soil mix.

I was told that it was being adjusted.

Saito's exploration of pots continues.

"The pot grows."

Thank you for sharing your valuable experience of encountering a new sensation.

Saito's pots will be on display at the "Chu" series on Friday, May 31st.

We plan to release the "Ginkuro", "Unryu", and "Doku" series on Tuesday, June 4th.

Look forward to it ♪
