SOTTAKU KILN MAKITO KAWAI
ANAGAMA POT (all handmade)
The oldest style of pottery in Japan is the anagama kiln.
The piece was fired in the anagama kiln using approximately 9,000 sticks of firewood over three days, day and night, and finished with natural lacquer.
As the ash falls on the piece and becomes a natural glaze, each piece has its own unique expression, making them one-of-a-kind pieces.
All are one-of-a-kind original pieces.
*Please note that we cannot accept cancellations for one-of-a-kind items.

SOTTAKU KILN MAKITO KAWAI
He studied under Tadashi Kawai in Kyoto and after eight years of training, he established Sotsutaku Kiln in Tokyo.
Aiming to create "pottery that can be made in Tokyo," he continues to present installations that bring to fruition images that freely shift from architectural shapes to abstraction and then concrete form.
